Passenger transport legislation

The following legislation is administered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and provides the legislative framework for managing the passenger transport system:

The objectives of the Act include:

  • achieving the best possible public passenger transport system at a reasonable cost to the community and government, while keeping government regulation to a minimum
  • providing community access and mobility in support of the government's social justice objectives
  • providing a framework for the development of a comprehensive, integrated and efficient public passenger transport system.

The Queensland Office of the Parliamentary Counsel website provides access to complete texts of the Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Act 1994, the Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Regulation 2005, and the Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Standard 2010.
