Interception reports
The National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme interception
report books must be carried and presented upon request by
intercepting officers. Interception reports are used to gauge
compliance with scheme standards and rules at any time. In the
event the intercepting officer does not complete any entry the
driver should record details about the interception for accurate
records.
Interception reports are completed by
either a police officer or transport
inspector and must be forwarded to the Department of Transport
and Main Roads. Action must be taken by the operator to correct any
faults that may have been found. Operators must provide written
advice of how they have addressed any fault reported through
interception. Failure to do so may lead to suspension or
cancellation of accreditation.
Interception reports are reviewed and taken into consideration with
regard to maintaining and renewing an operator’s
accreditation. They may also form the basis for the Department
of Transport and Main Roads to request a triggered audit
of the operator’s management system or the suspension of
scheme derived benefits (for example, mass and vehicle inspection
concessions).
