OnQ project governance

Project governance within the Department of Transport and Main Roads seeks to ensure that the outputs from each project will deliver outcomes that are consistent with organisational policy and strategic objectives. It is important to establish the project management structure that focuses on achieving results through managing opportunities, risks, stakeholders and making the best use of resources.

The key components of the framework that assist in ensuring that projects are planned and managed throughout their lifecycle are:

  • principles and key elements — the guiding principles and their key elements for project management
  • project organisational model — generic project organisation model. The diagram showing the relationships between project roles
  • roles and responsibilities — identifies the project roles and their responsibilities
  • approval process — generic diagrams of the approval processes showing the relationships between the project roles and the various documentation required for projects.
