Port Government-Owned Corporations
Transport and Main Roads is a shareholding Department, providing oversight of the four Port Government-Owned Corporations (GOC):
The four GOC port corporations operate under the Government Owned Corporations Act 1993. The GOC legislative framework provides that ports operate, as far as practicable, on a commercial basis in a competitive environment.
The port GOCs are required to operate as commercial entities with independent Boards.
