Native title

As a Government Agency, Department of Transport and Main Roads has a responsibility to adhere to the requirements of the Commonwealth Native Title Act 1993 and the Native Title (Queensland) Act 1993.

The Department does this by using the whole-of-government work procedures produced and administrated by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Land Services Branch within the Department of Environment and Resource Management. The Native Title Work Procedures are workable policies and procedures designed to ensure the fairness and validity of government dealings over land and waters where native title may exist.

A copy of the whole-of-government Native Title Work Procedures can be found on the Department of Environment and Resource Management website.
