Reconciliation Committee
Purpose
The Reconciliation Committee, formerly known as the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program Strategic Group, is responsible for the provision of timely and effective strategic coordination for all departmental Indigenous policy, services and program matters. The committee conducts its business in accordance with agency commitments, Council of Australian Governments (COAG), Queensland Reconciliation Action Plan (QRAP) and a range of government legislation.
The Reconciliation Committee is chaired by the departmental champion Deputy Director-General Operations and reports regularly to the Board of Management.
The Reconciliation Committee is also supported by the Reconciliation Action Plan working group, which has representation from Indigenous employees and contractors.
Membership
The Reconciliation Committee membership includes General Managers and senior officers managing key program areas that deal with Indigenous matters:

- General Manager (People and Capability)
- Chief Finance Officer (Corporate)
- Regional Director (Northern)
Roles and responsibilities
The Strategic Policy Division (SPD) provides secretariat support for the committee which meets regularly to:
- Assist the departmental champion with strategic policy and implementation advice on all Indigenous policy, service, program and reconciliation matters, to ensure timely achievement of the department’s commitments and targets.
- Provide leadership and represent the interests of their respective areas in delivering outcomes, engaging external stakeholders or participating in workshops with key external stakeholder representatives.
- Ensure the strategic alignment and operation of the RAP with all relevant departmental policies, services and program objectives.
- Identify industry best practices for Indigenous outcomes that may be applicable to the department’s core business objectives.
- Assist the RAP Champion and SPD with advice on matters for inclusion in the department’s Annual Report and the RAP progress report.
