What Transport and Main Roads is doing to "Close the Gap"?
Reconciliation Action Plan
The Department of Transport and Main Roads understands the vital role that access to transport plays in achieving improved education, health and economic opportunities for Indigenous Australians in our cities and throughout regional Queensland.
By providing much-needed access to road, rail, sea and air transport, the department is well-placed to provide education, training and employment opportunities for Indigenous people right across the state.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan (PDF, 778 KB) — or RAP — will further affirm our department's reputation as an organisation that is actively committed to ensuring Indigenous Australians are provided with the opportunity to improve their quality of life.
To make it easier to download, the Reconciliation Action Plan is available in sections:
The RAP program encourages and supports organisations to engage and work together nationally to close the 17-year gap in life expectancy between Indigenous and other Australians.
TMR has a long history of respecting, engaging with and providing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Our Reconciliation Action Plan provides opportunity for all of us to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and recognise the important contributions of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees.
