Transport and Main Roads is involved in local area planning to ensure the department’s interests are reflected and supported in local planning instruments.
- Planning policy
The Department of Transport and Main Roads prepares policy to articulate the state government’s position on planning and development related issues affecting the transport system. The primary objective of such policy is to ensure that existing transport infrastructure is able to operate safely and efficiently and to ensure that transport infrastructure can be provided to meet the future needs of the Queensland community.
