TMR interests in planning schemes

The Department of Transport and Main Roads has areas of interest in the preparation and review of planning schemes. To guide local governments and other stakeholders, the department is preparing policies that clarify these interests. These policies will identify the issues the department is likely to raise during the planning scheme preparation and review process. They are designed to apply in a range of urban and regional areas.

Four Interests in Planning Schemes documents have already been produced:

• Interest in Planning Scheme one — this is an overarching document to the other Interest in Planning Scheme
• Interest in Planning Scheme two — cycling interests in planning schemes
• Interest in Planning Scheme three — planning for rail noise (repealed) – refer to the Guide for development in a railway environment
• Interest in Planning Scheme four — planning for movement networks.

These four Interests in Planning Schemes have been finalised after consultation with relevant stakeholders.
