Travel options
South East Queensland residents are largely reliant on their cars to get around. While sometimes there is no alternative to using a car, replacing some car journeys with other modes of transport such as walking, cycling or public transport can make a significant difference to congestion and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Almost half of all car trips are less than five kilometres, which means walking and cycling are very real options for replacing some of these journeys. For a total start to finish trip, cycling has shown to be the most efficient means of travel for trips within eight kilometres of the city.
Success so far
