Disaster recovery

During disaster events, Transport and Main Roads will work hard to make our transport network safe and get Queensland reconnected. You can keep updated on the status of the transport network by accessing the resources below.

Roads

Road closures

For road closure information, visit the Traffic and travel information website or call 13 19 40. The department’s traffic cameras provide the latest images of Queensland main roads from selected regions.

Heavy Vehicles

For heavy vehicle, permit information and access to the Conditions Report database, visit the Heavy Vehicle information webpage, or call the freight hotline on 1300 105 647 between 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Disaster Reconstruction

Queensland’s road network received more damage than any other state government asset during the flood and cyclone events in 2010/2011.

100% of the state was disaster declared in 2011 and 28% of roads were damaged in the 2010 and 2011 disasters.

Transport and Main Roads worked hard in the recovery phase to open roads and reconnect communities and is now undertaking the massive task of reconstructing Queensland’s transport network as part of Operation Queenslander.
