Medical condition reporting

If you hold a Queensland driver licence, you must report any long term or permanent medical condition, or any change to an existing medical condition, which is likely to adversely affect your ability to drive safely to the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Failure to notify the department carries a maximum penalty of $6,600 and cancellation of your driver licence.

We recommend you talk with your health professional about any medical condition you have and potential impacts on your ability to drive safely. Your health professional is in the best position to determine if you are medically fit to drive.

For those who are unable to drive anymore, the department has created a list of support services for the loss of driving independence.
