Kallangur
Features of the Moreton Bay Rail Link – Kallangur (as per the reference design)
- A new rail station will be built between Dohles Rocks and Goodfellows roads.
- A park ‘n’ ride for commuters is included at the station.
Progress – Kallangur
The design and construction of proposed bridges at Dohles Rocks Road and Goodfellows Road at Kallangur will now be incorporated as part of the project’s rail design and construction contract. There will be no start to construction in the Kallangur precinct until later in 2013.
Work undertaken by both tenderers for the proposed road-over-rail bridges at Dohles Rocks Road and Goodfellows Road was considered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads. The work showed that there were some issues with the proposed road-over rail bridge option that would be better managed if the works were incorporated in the rail contract and further investigation was undertaken by the rail tenderers as to the best way to integrate the rail and existing roads in the Kallangur area.
The designs and investigations that have been carried out to date have been provided to tenderers for the rail design and construction contract. The rail tenderers will evaluate the best way to design the rail and local roads either by road-over-rail bridges or raising the rail line above the existing road network in the Kallangur area.
The design for the rail line, station and bridges at this location will be developed throughout 2013, with construction beginning in the second half of 2013 along with the rest of the rail project.
Kallangur Station is being designed to suit its local situation, particularly in layout and access.
Key features of the rail line will be finalised prior to the rail corridor works starting, with detailed design continuing throughout construction.
Construction – Kallangur
Construction of the rail corridor works is due to begin in the second half of 2013 with the new rail line scheduled for delivery by late 2016. Key features of the rail line will be finalised prior to the rail corridor works starting, with detailed design continuing throughout construction.
More details about construction activities along the rail corridor works will be provided closer to the start of work.

Mango Hill East Station (previously called Kinsellas Road Station)
Features of the Moreton Bay Rail Link – Mango Hill East (as per the reference design)
- A new rail station will be built to the east of Kinsellas Road East just south of St Benedict’s School, in an area earmarked for significant development.
- Access to the station will be finalised in line with proposed residential development.
- A park ‘n’ ride for commuters is included at the station.
- A new road-over-rail bridge will be built on Kinsellas Road East near the future Mango Hill East Station. It will provide 1 lane in each direction for general traffic, on-road cycle facilities and a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists. It has been designed to accommodate future traffic needs.
Progress – Mango Hill East
The station previously known as Kinsellas Road has been renamed Mango Hill East Station. This name change is in line with TransLink’s naming guidelines which ensure that station names effectively indicate their locality.
Construction to provide a new road over rail bridge at Kinsellas Road East began in July 2012 and will be complete by mid-2013. See below for further construction details.
Design for the rest of the project in your area is continuing, with preliminary design for the rail corridor works (including the track, structures and 6 stations) underway.
Concept designs for each station, including Mango Hill East Station, are being developed. Mango Hill East Station is being designed to suit its local situation, particularly in layout and access.
Construction – Mango Hill East
The Kinsellas Road East bridge opened to traffic in early April 2013. It is the first bridge to be built on the Moreton Bay Rail Link and marks the beginning of work on the ground for this long-awaited project - a major milestone for the Moreton Bay community.
The first motorists travelled over the new bridge not long after the ribbon was cut and gave it the thumbs up. The bridge stands up to eight metres high over the future rail line and has a new roundabout at the Kinsellas Road East and Mango Hill Boulevard intersection.
Motorists turning left from Mango Hill Boulevard to travel north are now using the new Kinsellas Road East alignment and bridge. The old section of road between Mango Hill Boulevard and Anzac Avenue is closed to traffic. Traffic turning from Anzac Avenue are using a new connection to Kinsellas Road East onto the bridge.
The Kinsellas Road East bridge provides 1 traffic lane in each direction, on-road cycle lanes and a pedestrian footpath. The new bridge accommodates for continuing growth and future transport needs in the area, becoming part of the proposed North South Urban Arterial in this location. Planning for the North South Urban Arterial is currently underway by the Moreton Bay Regional Council and Department of Transport and Main Roads.
The rail corridor works (including Mango Hill East Station) are expected to begin in late 2013, with the new rail line scheduled for delivery by late 2016. Key features of the rail line will be finalised during preliminary design, prior to the rail corridor works starting, with detailed design continuing throughout construction.

Kippa-Ring Station
Features of the Moreton Bay Rail Link – Kippa-Ring Station (as per the reference design)
- A new rail station will be built between Hercules Road and Anzac Avenue.
- Access to the station and carpark will be via a new access road off Anzac Avenue and also via Hercules Road.
- A park ‘n’ ride for commuters is included at the station.
Progress – Kippa-Ring Station
Planning has progressed for the Kippa-Ring Station precinct. The project team has worked with a design company to ensure that Kippa-Ring Station fits into the local community and provides a safe, modern and welcoming environment for all users. As a result, the station will be located closer to Anzac Avenue than originally planned. The station will be relocated about 70m to the east where it will be closer to the Kippa-Ring commercial precinct. This will improve station visibility and community safety while connecting users to the nearby retail and commercial areas. It will also support future transit-oriented development and regeneration of Kippa-Ring.
The project team has worked with key stakeholders—including Moreton Bay Regional Council, Queensland Rail, TransLink and the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning—to determine the best layouts and access routes, minimise environmental impacts and make best use of the land available for the station.
Detailed traffic modelling has been carried out to assist in the design of station access. The project team will work with Moreton Bay Regional Council to develop parking management strategies in the local area.
The layout has been provided to the project’s tenderers who will continue the design of the station and rail line throughout 2013.
Information is available on the station relocation in the Kippa-Ring project report and factsheets.
