Bruce Highway Safety Package Atkinson Road and Raspberry Creek Road

Overview:

The Bruce Highway Safety Package project north of Rockhampton at Atkinson Road and Raspberry Creek Road included intersection upgrades and a rest area at Kooltandra Road along the Bruce Highway.

Location:

Central Queensland.

Completion:

May 2017.

Benefits:

The $5.2 million intersection upgrades will provide extra safety measures on the Bruce Highway and improve traffic flow for motorists travelling north of Rockhampton.

Project info

The Atkinson Road, Raspberry Creek Road and Kooltandra Road upgrades are part of the Bruce Highway Safety Package which targets key areas for safety improvement which includes widening work. The projects involve upgrading various sections of the highway to improve safety and traffic efficiency.

Works delivered as part of the Australian Government's Bruce Highway Safety Package include:

  • widening sections to incorporate a wide centre line treatment (WCLT) to provide greater separation between motorists travelling in opposite directions
  • applying audio tactile line marking on centre/edge lines
  • removing or protecting roadside hazards
  • improving the safety of various intersections.
  • construction of The Bruce Highway Safety Package works at Atkinson Road, Raspberry Creek Road and Kooltandra Road commenced in December 2016 and were completed in May 2017.
