Project info

Detailed design of the pavement widening works was completed in November 2016, with a contract for construction expected to be awarded in March 2017.

The project will deliver significant improvements for motorists, by strengthening and widening the existing pavement, between Ayr and Townsville. Wide centre line treatments, which have been shown to reduce the occurrence of head-on collisions by up to 50%, will also be installed.

There will be lane closures and reduced speed limits in place during construction. Motorists should obey roadside signage and drive to the conditions.

The project's Customer & Stakeholder Management team is committed to listening to stakeholders and values all community feedback during the project's construction.
