Project info
The Darra to Springfield Transport Corridor is a major transport upgrade for the Western Corridor region, and is being delivered in two stages.
Stage 1 – Darra to Richlands
The $800 million first stage of the Darra to Springfield Transport Corridor was the Darra to Richlands road and rail upgrade. This stage was the first integrated road and rail project in south east Queensland.
The rail component of this project built a new 4.5 km dual track rail line from Darra to a new station at Richlands, with a 650-space car park.
The road component included duplication of the Centenary Highway from two to four lanes from the intersection of Boundary and Kelliher Roads at Richlands, to north of the Logan Motorway Interchange.
Construction on this A$800 million project is complete, with rail services started on 17 January 2011.
Stage 2 – Richlands to Springfield
The A$475 million second stage of the Darra to Springfield Transport Corridor is the Richlands to Springfield project.
This project is building a 9.5km dual track rail line to new stations at Springfield (near Woodcrest College) and Springfield Central (near Orion Shopping Centre).
Construction on this project started in October 2011, and is scheduled for completion in 2013.
