Changing registration details

Change your address

Note: Services online can only be used to change individual addresses. The address of an organisation cannot be changed using services online.

You can notify the Department of Transport and Main Roads of your change of address by:

Please advise the department of your change of address before paying your registration to ensure your registration label is posted to the correct address. 

Remember, you must update your electoral enrolment details every time you change your address, even if the new address is in the same electoral district.

Change your compulsory third party (CTP) insurer or input tax credit entitlement

Note: If you are considering hiring out your Queensland registered vehicles, the department advises that you contact the compulsory third party (CTP) insurer listed on the vehicle registration certificate or vehicle registration renewal notice to ensure you have the appropriate CTP cover for hire vehicles. The CTP class may require amendment and additional fees may be payable. Where a vehicle is used for more than one purpose, the CTP insurance class attracting the highest premium is applicable.

Vehicle modifications

Changes to your registration record following modifications to your vehicle can only be made in person by completing a Change of Vehicle Particulars Notification form (F3524) and lodging it at a Department of Transport and Main Roads customer service centre. If you live in a rural area, lodge at a Queensland Government Agency Program office or police station. As the vehicle may need to be inspected to verify the changes, you will need to present the vehicle at the time the Change of Vehicle Particulars Notification form (F3524) is lodged. Evidence of identity requirements must be met.

In some cases, vehicle modifications will alter the registration charge. Payment of a pro-rata fee may apply.

Please keep any receipts or receipt numbers as proof of payment. The certificate of registration and windscreen label will be mailed to you.

Changing a vehicle's purpose of use (POU)

Changes to a vehicle's purpose of use can only be made in person by completing a Change of Vehicle Particulars Notification form (F3524) and lodging it at a Department of Transport and Main Roads customer service centre.
