Share My Story

The 'Share My Story' campaign namestyle. Share My Story (launched January 2009) is a highly interactive Queensland Government public education campaign that features a social networking website where everyday Queenslanders can share how road trauma has impacted their lives.

The campaign integrates television, print, and online communication into a clear message that highlights the personal impact of dangerous road-use behaviours. The television and print advertising directs Queenslanders to the Share My Story social networking website (www.sharemystory.qld.gov.au) where they can share their stories, read the stories of others and be directly involved in road safety communication.

Anyone who has been affected by road trauma is encouraged to share their story on the website. This includes people of all ages, all types of road users and in all locations across Queensland.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads anticipates that as people openly share their stories, it will become evident that road crashes have lasting effects on surviving victims, families, friends, colleagues, neighbours, emergency services workers, police, hospital staff, carers, rehabilitation workers and many others.

Road safety affects everyone and is everyone's responsibility.

The Share My Story website went live on 22 January 2009. Online, print and television advertisements commenced on 23 January 2009.
