Safe school travel (SafeST) background

SafeST was developed to make school travel safer. It is the result of wide consultation and a partnership with the state government's School Transport Safety Consultative Committee. This committee comprises students and representatives from parents' groups, government agencies and bus operator associations.

Initially, the booklet 'Your Guide to Safe School Travel Programs' was published and copies were sent to all schools, parents and citizens/friends associations, local governments, other government agencies, members of parliament and other school transport safety stakeholders.

This booklet has now been updated and replaced by the safe school travel fact sheet (PDF, 128 KB).
