An image of the qconnect logoTransport and Main Roads regulates and/or subsidises some public transport air services to ensure that specifically targeted remote and regional communities have year-round access to a range of essential business, educational, medical, and cultural destinations. The aim is to reduce the social and economic disadvantages facing Queenslanders in rural and remote areas.

There are currently 10 air services and 15 long distance coach routes. In addition there are three long distance coach routes serviced by Community Based Transport (CBT) operators.
