Brisbane Metropolitan Traffic Management Centre
The Brisbane Metropolitan Traffic Management Centre (BMTMC) is the principal transport management centre for South East Queensland.
To keep traffic moving, the BMTMC coordinates traffic/incident response services across the Brisbane metropolitan area.
The BMTMC operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The centre coordinates the 13 19 40 hotline and website which provides important traffic and travel information for road users.
The centre provides services on behalf of Brisbane City Council and the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Our emergency response
RoadTek provides equipment and personnel for traffic/incident response when this is requested by the BMTMC.
Our emergency response capacity includes:
- eight truck-mounted attenuators, known as 'bump trucks'
- emergency supervisors on call 24 hours
- emergency crews on stand-by (one in northern and one in the southern metropolitan areas), equipped with barrier trucks and trucks displaying prominent Variable Message Signs to alert drivers. The crews provide extensive traffic control support and diversions across the network, as well as clean up and recovery of incident sites.
Traffic Response Officers
Traffic Response Officers are highly trained in incident management. This ensures they are ready to attend a range of safety and congestion-related incidents.
They can provide basic on-road mechanical assistance when there is a breakdown.
Traffic Response Officers wear a distinct highly visible uniform that includes the Department of Transport and Main Roads logo.
