Sustainability

The Australian and Queensland governments are committed to manage the design and construction of the Linkfield Road overpass upgrade to align with stakeholder expectations, including reducing the project's environmental footprint and building an increased network resilience to climate change.

Sustainable outcomes proposed will go towards demonstrating the project's commitment to contribute to net positive benefits for society and the environment will be the focus of the project during design and construction. The project will pursue the achievement of an Infrastructure Sustainability Council rating of ‘Excellent’ across both design and construction.

During the design and construction of this project we will:

  • seek to improve our environmentally sustainable practices to ensure a robust and adaptable transport network
  • implement effective management systems for workplace health and safety, environment, sustainability, and quality management
  • review current generational needs while minimising environmental impacts for our future generations
  • improve the provision for active transport though the interchange
  • improve the east-west connectivity on Linkfield road
  • minimise disruption to traffic during construction
  • support and be responsive to the needs of stakeholders and the local community
  • minimise negative impacts on the environment associated with the project
  • maintain quality of air, water and land by mitigating harmful emissions
  • reduce energy, water and waste during the design and construction phases
  • engage suppliers and sub-contractors who can demonstrate environmental credentials.
