2021 Engineering, Innovation, and Technology Forum

Forum postponement until August 2021

Thank you for your continued interest and support for the Department of Transport and Main Roads’ Engineering, Innovation, and Technology Forum.

TMR has been working hard to support Queensland through the unprecedented challenges we are all facing due to COVID-19.

During this challenging time, TMR has been focused on two key things. The first is doing what we can do to slow the spread of COVID-19. The second is keeping Queensland moving by maintaining critical services, and actively working with our partners and industry.

Focusing on the first of these actions, and with a view to everyone’s safety and health, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our 2020 Engineering, Innovation, and Technology Forum.

The Engineering, Innovation, and Technology Forum will now be held 24-26 August 2021 at the Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC) at the RNA showgrounds.

As our adjusted planning schedule develops, we will update the revised key dates.

We appreciate your understanding and patience and we look forward to seeing you at the Engineering, Innovation, and Technology Forum in August 2021.

Connecting minds, delivering value

The theme “Connecting minds, delivering value” will continue in 2021. Focusing on cutting edge research and development, innovations delivering practical outcomes, and new technologies that will change the way we all work, the 2021 Engineering, Innovation, and Technology Forum promises to be the biggest and best forum yet.

The forum creates a unique opportunity for industry representatives and departmental officers to come together and learn about the critical knowledge and technologies that will keep Queensland at the forefront of the Transport Sector.

New name, new venue and new innovations

Previously called the Engineering Technology Forum we have a new name - the “Engineering, Innovation, and Technology Forum”. The name maintains the link with tradition and adds another dimension to the broad range of topics that will include transformative technologies, global trends, innovations and future opportunities.

The 2021 forum is being held in a different venue - the world class Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC) at the RNA showgrounds. The venue has state-of-the-art facilities, large conference halls, meeting rooms and break-out areas to cater for our extensive program and exciting events.

The forum will provide the opportunity for people to network and learn about new technologies, where TMR is heading with respect to critical shifts to traditional methods of delivery, and the new innovations evolving to support it.

The forum program

The forum program will continue to evolve and is shaping up to be our best event yet. The inspiring and innovative environment will provide new opportunities for professional development, knowledge sharing and networking. Next year’s forum is expected to attract hundreds of departmental specialists, engineering researchers, practitioners and industry.

The forum’s three-day program will centre on ‘Connecting minds, delivering value’, covering a range of topics, such as transformative technologies, global trends, and future opportunities. We are looking for innovative and interactive presentation topics focused on:

  • delivery of transport infrastructure projects
  • innovative research outcomes for all modes of transport
  • solutions to complex transport needs
  • ‘outside the box’ thinking that has generated cost effective solutions
  • managing the network, road corridors and operations.
