Natural disaster and drought assistance (registration and licensing)

In the event of a natural disasters or drought, we provide assistance for Queenslanders that are impacted. 

You may be eligible for our:

The Queensland Government has activated the Personal Hardship Assistance Scheme.

Notice is hereby given in accordance with section 96(2) of the Transport Operations (Road Use Management – Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2010 that the TMR Natural Disaster Assistance Package is activated in all areas where the Personal Hardship Assistance Scheme has been activated. Refer to the Queensland Reconstruction Authority website and map for affected areas:

Assistance will be available to persons who have their vehicle’s registration garaging address in an area where the Personal Hardship Assistance Scheme has been activated or have lost Approved Inspection Station (AIS) documents, drivers licence or current learner logbooks as a result of the natural disaster. This notice will be effective for a period of 3 months (inclusive) from 3 November 2020.

Natural disaster assistance package

We provide the following options for natural disaster assistance:

  • No administration surcharge for short term registration renewal periods
  • No registration renewal reinstatement fees
  • No replacement fees for standard issued number plates
  • No replacement fees for lost and/or damaged driver licence and photo identity cards
  • No replacement fees for lost and/or damaged:
    • public passenger transport driver authorisations
    • heavy vehicle work diaries
    • industry authorities including accreditation documentation and identity cards
    • books of certificates of inspection or modification certificates.

You may also be eligible for time extensions for disability parking permits and certificates of inspection.

Drought assistance package

The drought assistance package information bulletin gives an overview of the drought assistance provided by the department to primary producers. This package is offered in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) and the Queensland Police Service.

Any guidelines mentioned in this package can be found on the Heavy vehicle guidelines and class permits page.

Primary producers are eligible for drought assistance if their property has been drought declared by DAF.
