Barcaldine – Aramac Road widening project

The project will widen and seal more than 6.5 kilometres of the Barcaldine-Aramac Road in central west Queensland.

Approximately 17 kilometres south of Aramac on the Barcaldine-Aramac Road.

Late-2019, weather permitting.

Widening and sealing of the Barcaldine-Aramac Road will increase safety by providing safer overtaking and passing opportunities for cars, road trains, caravans and other vehicle types which frequent the road.

It will also increase the reliability of the network through reducing the time the road is closed and/or inaccessible to motorists.

The project also includes improved access for the local school bus with the sealing of a bus stopping area.

Overall, the project supports regional economic development through job creation and by minimising the risk of adverse effects on the local economy due to road closures and/or implementation of load restrictions.
