Project info

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is currently undertaking safety improvements on Beaudesert–Beenleigh Road, with additional safety measures to be rolled during 2019.

The $5.88 million works on Beaudesert–Beenleigh Road between Luscombe Crescent and Dunns Road at Wolffdene are expected to be completed in late 2018. The project includes shoulder widening, speed restriction signs, removal of roadside hazards and installation of additional safety guardrail.

An additional $12 million has been allocated to undertake works on Beaudesert–Beenleigh Road for improvements to safety at Luscombe and Birnam and installing guardrail at multiple locations between Tabragalba and Mundoolun.

Construction work at Birnam is expected to start in late 2018 and will continue into the first half of 2019. The work will include shoulder widening, installation of wide centreline treatment, and clearing of hazards from the roadside.

The project at Luscombe will start after the Birnam project is completed and will include curve widening and realignment over a 400 metres section.

Guardrail lengths of between 300 and 500 metres will be installed at 5 sites between the intersection of Beaudesert–Nerang Road, Tabragalba and intersection of Mundoolun Connection Road, Mundoolun.

Speed limit review

A speed limit review is been undertaken for the length of Beaudesert–Beenleigh Road.

The review considers several factors including crash history, traffic volumes, types of vehicles using the road, the geometry of the road and its role in the road network.

The findings of the review will be endorsed by the local speed management committee which consists of representatives from TMR, Queensland Police Service, RACQ and the relevant local council before any speed limit changes are implemented on the road.
