Bermuda Street and Christine Avenue: intersection upgrade


The upgrade of Bermuda Street and Christine Avenue intersection is part of the State government's fast-tracked road safety and road network renewal program.

Construction is scheduled to commence early April 2017 and to be completed by late June 2017, weather permitting.

  • Improved travel times through the intersection and reduced queuing on Bermuda Street (north and south) from changes to pedestrian cross-walks and optimising travel signal phasing.
  • Improved safety for pedestrians using the intersection through the creation of staggered pedestrian crossings and installation of fenced centre medians.

Upgrade works will include: 

  • extending the existing right turn lane on Christine Avenue (eastbound) into Bermuda Street (south)
  • installing staggered pedestrian crossings on Bermuda Street (north and south) including fenced centre medians
  • optimising traffic signal phasing
  • revising line marking and upgrading signage.

Community info

Work will be carried out mainly at night, Monday to Friday 8pm-4am. Every effort will be made to minimise noise from heavy machinery by restricting its use to 8pm-11pm.
