Bruce Highway Upgrade Program: Daisy Dell overtaking lane (southbound) and Bororen to Tannum Sands safety works

Overview:

This $18.65 million package of works, jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments is being delivered as on single construction contract consisting of 2 distinct projects.

The 2 projects are:

  • Daisy Dell southbound overtaking lane
  • Bororen to Rodds Bay Road safety works.
Location:

Bororen to Rodds Bay Road.

Completion:

August 2019.

Benefits:

As part of the contracted works, TMR will also replace/upgrade drainage structures and construct property accesses to improve safety and allow for school bus pull-over facilities.

Supplier:

The construction tender for the project was awarded to WBHO Pty Ltd in June 2018.

Funding:
  • Daisy Dell Southbound overtaking lane $4,360,000 (100% Federally funded).
  • Bororen to Tannum safety works $14,290,000 (80% Federally funded and 20% State funded).

Both works being delivered under 1 single construction contract to the value of $18.65 million.

Project info

Daisy Dell southbound overtaking lane 

Construction of 1 southbound overtaking lane as well as an intersection upgrade at Daisy Dell Road. (Approximate Chainage 115.350 – 118.025km).

An average of 14 direct jobs will be supported over the life of the project.

Bororen to Tannum safety works

The proposed scope of the works includes 6.7km of road widening at various sections to provide Wide Centre Line Treatment (WCLT) and safer roadside treatments (barriers).

Intersection upgrades included in this program of work:

  • Turkey Beach Road
  • Iveragh Road
  • Cherryvale Road
  • Christensen’s Road
  • Rodd’s Bay Road.

As part of the contract works TMR will replace/upgrade drainage structures, construct property accesses to improve safety and allow for school bus pull-over facilities.

The scope will include approximately 6.7 kilometres of road widening to provide Wide Centre Line Treatment, installation of safer roadside treatments (barriers) as well as intersection upgrades.  

This project is part of the 15-year Bruce Highway Upgrade Program, a $12.6 billion program of works to improve safety, flood resilience and capacity along the Bruce Highway from Brisbane to Cairns.  The program is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments.
