Project info

Over the years, the community has raised concerns about safety and capacity of the Bruce Highway and Wide Bay Highway intersection.

Vehicles are experiencing long delays turning right out of Wide Bay Highway due to the high volumes of traffic on the Bruce Highway. This is of particular concern for heavy vehicles which require a larger gap in traffic to enter the traffic stream safely.

The original scope of works involved implementing an at-grade seagull configuration intersection. The department is currently re-evaluating its preliminary design for the upgrade based on community feedback.

Community info

A project flyer which contained a preliminary design and the proposed scope of works was distributed to the broader community in October 2017. The community feedback we have received is playing an important role in developing the final design.

Project officers have also met with landowners near the intersection to seek feedback about the project and potential impacts to private accesses. The project team will maintain contact with all nearby landowners as the project progresses through to construction.
