Bruce Highway overtaking lane (Two Mile Creek to Sleeper Log Creek)

Overview:

Construction of a southbound overtaking lane on the Bruce Highway, between Two Mile Creek and Sleeper Log Creek.

Location:

Bruce Highway at Bluewater, 35km north of Townsville.

Completion:

Construction is due to commence in March 2018 and be completed in September 2018.

Benefits:

This upgrade will create safer overtaking opportunities for motorists and improve efficiency on the highway between Townsville and Ingham.

Supplier:

A construction contract is expected to be awarded in early 2018.

Funding:

$1.5 million funding includes:

  • $1.2 million committed by the Australian Government
  • $300,000 committed by the Queensland Government.

Project info

This project will deliver vital improvements to road safety, freight connectivity and productivity, with the construction of a new southbound overtaking lane on the Bruce Highway between Two Mile Creek and Sleeper Log Creek. 

A call for construction tenders is expected in November 2017, ahead of construction commencing in March 2018.

The project is being combined with Bruce Highway pavement widening between Deep Creek and Bluewater Creek.
