Bruce Highway overtaking lanes (Rollingstone Weighpad to Hencamp Creek)

Overview:

Construction of overtaking lanes on the Bruce Highway, north of Townsville.

Location:

Bruce Highway, between Rollingstone Weighpad and Hencamp Creek, approximately 50km north of Townsville.

Completion:

Construction commenced in July 2016 and was completed in March 2017.

Benefits:

This upgrade created safer overtaking opportunities for motorists and improve efficiency on the highway between Ingham and Townsville.

Supplier:

BMD Constructions Pty Ltd delivered this project.

Funding:

$6.8 million Australian Government funding.

Project info

This project involved the construction of a new southbound overtaking lane and extension of the existing northbound overtaking lane on the Bruce Highway, between Rollingstone Weighpad and Hencamp Creek. The upgrade delivered vital improvements to road safety, freight connectivity and productivity on the national highway.

This project formed part of the Queensland Government’s Accelerated Works Program, aimed at supporting local workers. An average of 21 jobs were supported over the life of the project.
