Bruce Highway overtaking lanes (Scovazzis Road to Como Road)

Overview:

Construction of a set of overtaking lanes on the Bruce Highway, south of Ingham.

Location:

Bruce Highway, between Scovazzis Road and Como Road, approximately 10km south of Ingham.

Completion:

Construction commenced in August 2016 and is expected to be completed in June 2017.

Benefits:

This upgrade will create safer overtaking opportunities for motorists and improve efficiency on the highway between Ingham and Townsville.

Supplier:

Downer EDI Works Pty Ltd are delivering this project.

Funding:

$9.6 million Australian Government funding.

Project info

This project will deliver vital improvements to road safety, freight connectivity and productivity, with the construction of new southbound and northbound overtaking lanes on the Bruce Highway between Scovazzis Road and Como Road.

This project forms part of the Queensland Government’s Accelerated Works Program, aimed at supporting local workers. An average of 30 jobs will be supported over the life of the project. Construction is expected to commence in August 2016.
