Bruce Highway widening (Masters Road to Larsens Road)

Widening a section of the Bruce Highway, south of Ingham.

Location:

Bruce Highway, between Masters Road and Larsens Road, approximately 7km south of Ingham.

Completion:

Construction commenced in August 2016 and was completed in September 2017.

Benefits:

This upgrade will improve safety and efficiency for road users on the national highway between Townsville and Ingham.

Supplier:

Downer EDI Works Pty Ltd delivered this project.

Funding:

$5.1 million funding includes:

  • $4.08 million committed by the Australian Government
  • $1.02 million committed by the Queensland Government.

Project info

This project delivered vital improvements to road safety, freight connectivity and productivity, with the widening of a 4.5km section of the Bruce Highway between Masters Road and Larsens Road.

This project formed part of the Queensland Government’s Accelerated Works Program, aimed at supporting local workers. An average of 16 jobs were supported over the life of the project. Construction commenced in August 2016 and was completed in September 2017.
