Bruce Highway widening (Masters Road to Larsens Road)

Overview:

Widening a section of the Bruce Highway, south of Ingham.

Location:

Bruce Highway, between Masters Road and Larsens Road, approximately 7km south of Ingham.

Completion:

Construction commenced in August 2016 and is expected to be completed in June 2017.

Benefits:

This upgrade will improve safety and efficiency for road users on the national highway between Cairns and Townsville.

Supplier:

Downer EDI Works Pty Ltd are delivering this project.

Funding:

$5.1 million funding includes:

  • $4.08 million committed by the Australian Government
  • $1.02 million committed by the Queensland Government.

Project info

This project will deliver vital improvements to road safety, freight connectivity and productivity, with the widening of a 4.5km section of the Bruce Highway between Masters Road and Larsens Road.

This project forms part of the Queensland Government’s Accelerated Works Program, aimed at supporting local workers. An average of 16 jobs will be supported over the life of the project. Construction is expected to commence in August 2016.
