The department has completed a comprehensive planning study into the 4 transport corridors linking Cairns to the Northern Tablelands.

The $1.6 million Cairns to Northern Tablelands access planning study investigated the reliability, safety and network efficiency between Cairns and the Northern Tablelands.

The study investigated the current issues, future needs and determined fit-for purpose solutions to improve performance and meet customer needs.

The Cairns to Northern Tablelands Access Strategy provides a comprehensive roadmap of initiative and investment over the short, medium and long-term to deliver the right infrastructure at the right time.
