North Coast and Wide Bay-Burnett Region - Wide Bay-Burnett District

Project info

$14.8 million has been allocated to construct the new bridge with the Australian Government contributing $5 million as part of the Australian Government's Heavy Vehicle and Safety Productivity Program, and the Queensland Government contributing $9.8 million to the project as outlined in the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program 2019–20 to 2022–23

The new bridge will result in improved safety, flood immunity, community connectivity and reduced maintenance costs.

Traffic will continue using the existing bridge while the new bridge is constructed on the new alignment.

Construction started in June 2019 and traffic is expected to be using the new bridge by the end of 2020, weather and construction conditions permitting.
