Gooding Drive roundabout (Nerang-Broadbeach Road) upgrade

To provide additional capacity on the state-controlled road network for the 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018), the Department of Transport and Main Roads has upgraded the roundabout at Gooding Drive and Nerang-Broadbeach Road.

  • Improve traffic flows and reduced travel times by providing additional lanes.
  • Increase pedestrian and cyclist connections through improved footpaths and crossing points.
  • Improve safety and wayfinding through new line marking, signage and partial signalisation.
  • Improved infrastructure for road users at the conclusion of GC2018.

This $6.7 million project is the final project that forms part of the Queensland Government's $160.7 million Commonwealth Games road network improvement projects on the Gold Coast.

  • extending the left turn slip lane from Nerang–Broadbeach Road south onto Gooding Drive east
  • providing a new free-flow slip lane for northbound traffic turning left from Gooding Drive west onto Nerang-Broadbeach Road
  • providing partial signalisation on Gooding Drive east and Robina Parkway north for vehicles entering the roundabout
  • increasing pedestrian and cyclist connections by extending footpaths and improving crossing locations
  • providing new line marking and signage to improve ease of movement for drivers at the installation of traffic signals at the intersection of Palm Meadows Drive/Gooding Drive.
