Regions:
South Coast Region

Project info

The Queensland Government is aware ongoing rapid industrial and residential development in the northern Gold Coast area is adding pressure to already busy M1 interchanges.

The current status of transport planning for the interchange upgrades is:

  • Exit 38 (Yatala North) – Business case approved in November 2018, planning underway
  • Exit 41 (Yatala South) – Business case approved in November 2018, planning underway
  • Exit 45 (Ormeau) – Options being analysed
  • Exit 49 (Pimpama) – Options being analysed

The following interim works have recently been completed at the interchanges:

  • On-demand roundabout traffic signals at Exit 38 and Exit 41 installed in July 2017, to improve traffic flow through the roundabouts, and manage motorway off-ramp traffic queues from the Pacific Motorway.
  • On-demand roundabout traffic signals at Exit 49 installed in December 2018, to improve traffic flow through the roundabouts and manage motorway off-ramp traffic queues from the Pacific Motorway.

As the planning for these projects progresses, further information including project timeframes, will be made available.

The $25 million upgrade to Exit 57 at Oxenford is already underway with construction due to be completed by September 2020.
