Warrego Highway Upgrade Program: Dalby-Miles Overtaking Lanes

Overview:

This project will improve road safety and freight efficiency by installing overtaking lanes at key sites.

Location:

Four sites along the Warrego Highway between Dalby and Miles.

Completion:

Construction commenced in January 2018.

Benefits:

To provide additional overtaking lanes at regular intervals, in both directions, between Dalby and Miles.

Project info

The project aims to improve road safety and freight efficiency and support the ongoing development of the Surat Basin by constructing 7 overtaking lanes (4 westbound and 3 eastbound), at 4 locations between Dalby and Miles.

The new lanes will provide additional opportunities for safe overtaking and reduce road congestion for road users.

This project is to be delivered as part of the $635 million Warrego Highway Upgrade Program (WHUP) to be implemented between 2014 and mid-2019. The WHUP is funded 80% by the federal government and 20% by the state government.

Travel times will be impacted by these projects. Local, regional and statewide motorists and heavy vehicle operators using the Warrego Highway between Toowoomba and Miles will need to factor in extra travel time due to multiple Warrego Highway upgrade sites.
