Warrego Highway Upgrade Program: Oakey to Miles safety upgrade Stage 2

The department will improve safety at a number of sites between Oakey and Miles.

Location:

Multiple sites between Oakey and Miles.

Completion:

Construction of this project is expected to begin in early 2019 and take approximately 12 months.

Benefits:

Increased safety for road users and greater freight efficiency through improved highway features.

Funding:

$11.65 million.

Project info

The works between Oakey to Miles will widen and repair additional key sections of highway in order to flatten slopes off the road edges, and create 6 additional stopping bays along the highway. 

The Dalby to Miles Pavement Widening and Safety Upgrade project and the Oakey to Miles Safety Upgrade Stage 2 will be delivered as 1 contract.

Community info

The project will be delivered as part of the $635 million Warrego Highway Upgrade Program (WHUP) designed to improve road safety between Toowoomba and west of Miles funded 80% by the federal government and 20% by the state government.

Travel times will be impacted by these projects. Local, regional and statewide motorists and heavy vehicle operators using the Warrego Highway between Toowoomba and west of Miles will need to factor in extra travel time due to multiple upgrade sites.
