Project info

Traffic growth on the Warrego Highway (Toowoomba – Dalby) is expected to exceed the state average, with retail, mining, gas, manufacturing and agricultural industries straining the serviceability of the highway.

This $2 million planning project is investigating extending the four lanes of the Warrego Highway to Oakey (approximately 10km), including exploring some options for staging of the works.

This planning project identifies preferred highway alignment and upgrade options on the Warrego Highway from west of the Kingsthorpe-Haden Road intersection 18.7km from Toowoomba to 28.7km from Toowoomba towards Oakey.

The main benefits of this planning study are:

  • early identification of a preferred route based on objective and well-considered criteria
  • informed and detailed resource allocation well in advance of project design and construction needs.

The outcome of this project will be planning documentation to inform future projects outside of the current Warrego Highway Upgrade Program (WHUP).
