Walking training courses

We run regular training courses on how to plan, design and deliver walking environments that enable everyone to walk, every day. 

The courses we recommend are for:

  • planners
  • engineers
  • project managers
  • transport professionals
  • groups and advocates with an interest in walking.

Training courses 

Walking infrastructure masterclass

The 2 day masterclass is a mix of classroom and field-based learning. On day 1, you will focus on how to plan for walkable environments while day 2 focuses on design. At the end of the masterclass you will have a solid understanding of how to use our Walking Network Planning Guidance.

We also run a half-day overview version of the key principles for senior managers and decision makers.

Designing for pedestrians and cyclists

This 2 day course introduces the full range of infrastructure options available for walking and cycling, including field work and design exercises.

Pedestrian and cycling provision for planners and managers

This training is a half-day condensed version of designing for pedestrians and cyclists course. The course is targeted at managers and focuses on planning for walking and cycling environments. 

Design of pedestrian and cyclist bridges

This course showcases cost-effective bridges with site visits and gives an overview of the our technical guideline. Download a copy of the Options for Designers of Pedestrian and Cyclist Bridges to achieve value-for-money guideline.

Pedestrian crossing facilities and tactile ground surface Indicators (TGSI)

This training provides an explanation of the requirements for the pedestrian crossing facilities and tactile ground surface indicators and gives an overview of pedestrian road crossing treatment options. 

How to book

Our training courses run throughout Queensland and can be booked on the Accelerate website. You search by the course title to browse current dates and locations. 

If you have 10 or more participants we can run some of the courses as in-house training for your organisation at a time and place of your choice.
