Infrastructure Investment – National Projects

Image of the Australian Government Crest and the Queensland Government Crest

The Australian Government, through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (DITRDCA), provides details of the National Land Transport Network (the network) which is a network of nationally important road and rail infrastructure links and their intermodal connections, including projects recently completed, underway or proposed.

The National Partnership Agreement (NPA) on land transport infrastructure projects sets out how the Australian Government and states can work together to deliver infrastructure projects for the benefit of Australians. Learn more about resources for funding recipients.

The Notes on Administratioa (NoA) describe the processes for the approval, administration, reporting and public recognition of projects under the NPA.

Project Proposal Report (PPR) template

If a project has received Australian Government funding, or the Australian Government has committed to funding the development of a project, The Department of Transport and Main Roadsmust submit a project proposal report (PPR) to access this funding. The PPR must be used to capture required information on the proposed project.

All questions in the report must be clearly answered and attachments should be provided in support where required. Learn more about the PPR template.

The OnQ project proposal, options analysis, business case and project plan template (as applicable) aims to be completed with information to document the project requirements to achieve approval to proceed to the next project stage.

The relevant details must be reflected in the PPR and submitted to DITRDCA for funding consideration and approval.

A project cost breakdown (PCB) must also be developed and submitted with the PPR where total project costs exceed $25 million. Contact TMR for the latest PCB template.

Post completion report (PCR)

An Australian Government Post completion report (which is different to and an abbreviation of the OnQ Completion Report) must be completed within 12 months of project finalisation.

The report summarises performance and outcomes against scope, schedule, budget and quality, and any requirements set out in the approval letter.

The PCR must be completed in accordance with the NoA and PCR template requirements. Learn more about the PCR template.
