Schedule for statewide maintenance dredging of Queensland ports

The Schedule for State-wide Maintenance Dredging of Queensland Ports 2023 describes the schedule for maintenance dredging of Queensland ports. Maintenance dredging involves the removal of sediments that have built up in existing channels, berths, approaches, and associated swing basins.

The Schedule is prepared by the Queensland Ports Association before maintenance dredging activities commence. The Queensland Ports Association is the peak industry body representing all Queensland port authorities. The Schedule is based on information provided by individual ports and the dredge operator.

In addition, the Queensland Ports Association prepares an annual review of the outcomes of the maintenance dredging program in relation to environmental performance, including timelines, volumes, evaluation of dredge material disposal options and spoil placement locations, and outcomes of monitoring. The results of the Maintenance Dredging of Queensland Ports – Review of 2022 Activities are incorporated into the dredging schedule for the following year.
