Training requirements for new applicants
From 1 November 2024 if you are applying for an AIS approval, nominee approval or approved examiner accreditation under the Approved Inspection Station Scheme, you must successfully complete the relevant AIS training modules before your application can be approved.
There are two options for submitting your application:
- You may choose to complete the required training before you submit
your application. You will need to submit a copy of your certificate of
completion as a supporting document with your application.
Completing the AIS training does not necessarily mean your application will be granted. You will also need to satisfy all other application requirements for an approval holder, nominee, or approved examiner.
You will not receive a refund of your application fees if your application is cancelled or refused. The training costs are paid directly to TAFE Queensland and therefore the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) cannot provide a refund of these costs if your application is cancelled or refused.
- If you are unsure whether you meet the suitability or eligibility requirements for your application to be approved, you may choose to submit your application before you complete the required training.
After your application has been assessed, and you have been deemed suitable and eligible for the role(s) you have applied for, you will be notified in writing. You will have twenty-eight (28) days to complete your training and provide your digital badge as evidence of completion. Failure to provide evidence of completion of the training will result in your application being cancelled. You will then need to restart the application process with TMR.
