Queensland is home to the nation’s second largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population. The Queensland Government is committed to a new way of working with First Nations peoples to achieve better life outcomes in health, education, employment and housing. Work delivered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads is firmly aligned with the Queensland Government's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policies and strategies.

The Department of Seniors, Disability Services and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships (DSDSATIP) provides whole-of-government leadership in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy, coordination and monitoring, and the delivery of services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders.
