Works update: Landsborough park 'n' ride

The Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade project (B2N) will increase capacity, improve reliability and reduce travel times for passenger and freight services in the growing Sunshine Coast region. Early works will expand the park 'n' ride facilities at Landsborough and Nambour and realign a 1-kilometre section of Steve Irwin Way.

Construction activities

Construction of the park 'n' ride facility at Landsborough will take place between August 2022 and mid-2023.

This new park 'n' ride facility will provide around 300 additional parking spaces on the eastern side of Landsborough station, reducing the need for people to drive across the level crossing to park.

The new facility will include accessible parking spaces, a bicycle parking area and a kiss 'n' ride drop-off zone.

A new bus interchange will also be created, servicing routes to the coast. Buses servicing hinterland routes will continue to operate from the existing, western side.

Dyer Street will have reduced speeds and temporary lane closures during construction.

The footpath connecting the train station to Caloundra Street on the eastern side of the station will be temporarily relocated during construction.

Signage and fencing will direct pedestrians to the temporary path, which will be suitable for users of wheelchairs and other mobility devices.

TMR will try to minimise the amount of time residents and the local community will be impacted by works.

We know these works are inconvenient and thank the local community in advance for their patience and understanding.

What to expect

  • Traffic control: Local traffic changes will be in place including reduced speed limits, temporary lane closures and minor traffic disruptions. Traffic controllers will be present to assist and direct road users. Priority access through the work zone will be given to emergency vehicles, wherever safe to do so.
  • Pedestrian diversions: Alternate routes will be provided and clearly marked.
  • Increased construction traffic: Residents can expect increased construction traffic travelling near the work zones.
  • Audible noise and dust: Audible noise and possible dust from construction activities can be expected. Reversing beepers and flashing lights are a safety requirement and will be used at all times during work hours.
  • Access: Access to residential properties and businesses will be maintained as needed.

Working hours

The majority of the work will be undertaken during the day. However due to the nature of the works and their proximity to live traffic, some activities may need to be undertaken at night when the traffic volumes are lower, for the safety of motorists and workers.

Day works, ongoing

  • Between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.

All works are subject to weather and construction conditions
