Accelerated funding has been allocated through the following Road Stimulus Packages to increase investment in roads and transport infrastructure as part of The Queensland Economic Recovery Strategy.
Birdsville Developmental Road (Morney - Birdsville), pave and seal
More than 5km of the Birdsville Developmental Road is being sealed to improve safety, efficiency and wet weather access for all road users.
This road links Birdsville and Windorah with markets in major centres across Australia. As well as playing a crucial role in the freight and agriculture sectors, it also supports outback tourism by providing access to areas of far western Queensland.
This section of road experiences large increases in traffic in the lead up to major regional events such as the Birdsville Big Red Bash and the Birdsville Races.
