Blackall-Jericho Road, pave and seal

The 120km Blackall-Jericho Road is now fully sealed.

A significant achievement has been delivered by a broad program of works, sealing the last remaining 15km of gravel road on this key strategic link.

The Blackall-Jericho Road is now fully sealed, improving safety, efficiency and wet weather access for all road users.

The road joins with the Landsborough and Capricorn Highways and plays an important role in regional growth. It connects communities from Blackall and surrounding areas with essential services (including health and education) in Emerald and Rockhampton.

This sealed road will deliver benefits to everyone who uses it and contribute to the local economy well into the future.

Current status

Three projects were completed to fully seal the Blackall-Jericho Road. Each project was delivered by local road crews from Blackall-Tambo Regional Council.

  • Works started in February 2021 and were completed in April 2021.
  • This project sealed a 6.6km section of gravel road.

Blackall-Jericho Road, pave and seal

  • Works started in May 2021 and were completed in September 2021.
  • This project sealed a 4.4km section of gravel road.

Blackall-Jericho Road, pave and seal—Stage 2

  • Works started in August 2021 and were completed in March 2022.
  • This project sealed the final 4.5km section of gravel road.
