Bowen Developmental Road (Collinsville – Belyando Crossing), Deception Creek to Bulgonunna Creek, pave and seal

The Bowen Developmental Road forms the arterial link between the Queensland coast and the northern Bowen Basin as well as linking the northern and central Bowen Basin coal mines and towns. This project will further improve the condition and safety of the Bowen Developmental Road after sealing was completed between Rockingham Creek and Mount Coolon in April 2021.

The project continues sealing work on the Bowen Developmental Road after sealing was completed between Rockingham Creek and Mount Coolon in April 2021. 

The project will provide an 8m wide sealed bitumen road and replace ageing and damaged culvert structures, upgrade signage and improve the overall condition and safety of the Bowen Developmental Road. 

As well as improving road safety, the project will also improve travel speeds, overall road reliability during wet weather and cater to increasing traffic volumes.

Current status

Construction of an 8m wide sealed bitumen road and the replacement of damaged culvert structures in the project area is underway. Work is due for completion in late 2021.
