Bruce Highway (Benaraby - Rockhampton), Calliope River to Mount Larcom, improve safety

The Bruce Highway between Calliope and Mount Larcom services local communities and is the main route for several industries supporting the broader Central Queensland region.

This project was delivered as part of the Bruce Highway Upgrade Program to improve safety along priority sections of the highway.

This project will help reduce the number of fatal and serious injury crashes on the Bruce Highway between Calliope and Mount Larcom. This was achieved by incorporating wide centre line treatment, applying audio tactile line marking to both the centre and edge lines, and removal of roadside hazards.

Road-widening improvements were made to intersections at:

  • Ferguson Road
  • Koncina Road
  • Mt Alma Road.

As well as providing important safety improvements, these upgrades will further future-proof the Bruce Highway for increasing traffic demands.
